A film by Daniel Auteuil set in an evocative landscape and period.

A romantic drama set in rural Provence at the beginning of the Second World War , this film is both directed by and stars Daniel Auteuil, who is one of France’s most famous film actors.

Auteuil plays Pascal Amoretti, a well-digger, whose daughter, Patricia, becomes briefly involved with Jacques, the wealthy son of a shop-keeper, who is also a fighter pilot.

Pascal becomes torn between his own personal honour and love for his daughter, as Jacques is called away to the front and Patricia finds herself expecting a child. Jacques’ rich parents initially accuse her of blackmail and it is feared that Jacques has abandoned Patricia because of her lower social status.

When it becomes known that Jacques has gone missing in action, Pascal tries to deal with this situation and protect his family as best he can.
