I have lived in the area since 1990 and have lived in Pangbourne since 1997. My wife and I have been members of the Twinning Association for 6 years and are enthusiasts for France, having taken holidays there every year for the last 12 years at least. We feel that receiving visitors from Houdan and visiting The Houdannais has given us a greater insight into our neighbours across the Channel and we have benefitted from the friendships that have been created. The Twinning Association is also a great way of getting to know people in our home area, and its activities are great fun.

Having taught French and German for most of my career, and been a translator and interpreter since, it seemed natural, when my wife and I moved into Pangbourne in 2010, to join the Twinning Association. The Association has proved a very pleasant way of making friends, both in Pangbourne and Houdan. I have particularly enjoyed being able to contribute my language skills, even if on occasion they have been pushed to the limit, as when interpreting at an agricultural show for a discussion on the relative merits of different breeds of steers and heifers. As we go to Houdan, and our friends from there come to Pangbourne, there is a real feeling that we are all so much more than just tourists.

I have worked in Pangbourne for many years at the primary school .When I found myself teaching french to the children I decided to join the Pangbourne Twinning association to learn more about french culture and more about the language.. My partner and I have travelled to Houdan many times and we have become good friends with our french counterparts and now see them about twice a year.
The association is a great way to meet new people, refresh your French, have fun and travel to new places.. I joined the committee to help with the fundraising events and social activities. I presently try to keep the website and our Facebook page up to date . Look us up at Pangbourne Twinning.
