La Famille Bélier (2014) A film by Ēric Lartigau. Sixteen year old Paula is the only member of the Bélier family who is not deaf. She acts as the ears and mouth of her eccentric clan. Life is thrown into disarray when Paula finds that she has a previously unknown talent for singing, and, with encouragement from her teacher, decides to audition for a prestigious music college in Paris. Charming and funny, with a wonderful joie de vivre, this film was number one at the French box office and took the country by storm. It stars Karin Viard, François Damiens, Ēric Elmosnino and Louane Emera. ‘Laughter and tears are an irresistible double act’ – The Independent
